Looking for a little heat?  Visit Solfatara, a dormant, shallow volcano which still emits steam.  The town of Pozzuli, where Greek ruins abound from the Serapidie to the Flavian amphitheatre.  Flavian is the third largest amphitheatre in all of Italy and its pristinely preserved behind the scenes operation will delight your inner archeologist.

While in the area, you can dine at one of the many outdoor cafes and restaurants along the water from Pozzuli to Cappuchini for famous seafood from prawns to spaghetti al vongole (local bay clams).
