The Isle of Capri

  The Isle of Capri

Long the home of artists, musicians and writers the island of Capri will transform you magically the moment you arrive at Marina Grande by hydrofoil.  There is a Capri for everyone, from luxurious boutiques in the town center to lemon and olive groves overlooking the sea to the Gardens of Augustus providing you with spectacular views of both Marina Piccola and the famous Faraglione rocks which jettison out of the sea in an almost surreal vision.

A day in Capri can begin in Piazza Umberto- the "Piazzetta" dubbed the "world's living room" where you can have a coffee or a glass of wine while rubbing elbows with the rich and famous who have homes here and jet set vacationers.  From here, you can continue through the narrow boutique lined streets to the Gardens of Augustus where you can obtain a bird's eye view of Marinia Piccola and the Faraglione rocks.

Time for a bit of lunch… stop at one of many local restaurants for some insalata caprese (fresh mozzarella and tomato salad) or Ravoli Caprese filled with local cheese which is only produced here.  Afterwards, perhaps a trip up to Anacapri, the highest part of the island, where the magic of the quaint streets and the freshness of the air will have you under its spell.

From here you can take a chair lift to another height Monte Salaro where the world seems to stop and get quiet.  Upon returning you can walk to Villa San Michele, home of Swedish physician Axel Munthe.  You may also want to peruse one of the many local shops selling hats and hand crafted shoes before returning to Capri.

If it is nature you prefer you can proceed through Anacapri to the quaint and serene area of Damecuta you can stop off to view the archeological Roman ruins of Damecuta Castle while walking to the famous Blue Grotto.  The water filled cave where the world turns to a bright blue that has amazed visitors for centuries.

Another option is exploring Capri by boat.  This is an excellent way to view the many grottos and have a true appreciation of the rugged coastline.  From this vantage point, provided the weather cooperates, you can view the inside of several grottos and explore Capri in a way few people have the luxury of experiencing.

We look forward to sharing our knowledge of this beautiful and fascinating island.  Capri evokes a unique feeling and sense of magic like no place else on earth.  You will leave here after your experience knowing your life has been altered for the better.
